Conducting and Instrumental Teaching

I've been captivated by the art of conducting throughout my post-secondary degrees and beyond. I designed a Directed Studies course in undergrad with my mentor, Dr. Karem Simon, attended numerous workshops, took private lessons from master educators, and observed incredible conductors. I have over 15 years of experience running a high school band program, and most recently, I've been teaching conducting at the University of Prince Edward Island.

I love the challenge of inspiring and communicating with an ensemble through conducting and find a beautiful symmetry between the physicality of percussion and conducting.

My deep dive into conducting led me to develop my own systems for score study, repertoire selection, curriculum programming, and rehearsal planning, blending the best from my mentors and my own practices to create effective and authentic strategies for any ensemble.
